Sea Lion II runs aground. Captain told onlookers he fell asleep and woke up marooned on the beach.

There was hope that the 1pm high tide would lift the old boat off the sand…but not to be. Stern hull cracked…and that doomed the old vessel.

The salmon aboard the Sea Lion II have been offloaded, the engine is next, then it’ll be disassembled. The Sea Lion II was originally built in Japan and was a fishing vessel off the west coast of the U.S. since around 1970.
